Dodington Parish Council recently welcomed Nick Gillett on to the Council, who was co-opted on Wednesday 21st August.

Councillor Nick Gillett introduces himself –

“Hello,

I’m Nick Gillett.  I’m 57 years old, married with three children and a grandfather to five.  I have lived in the BS37 area all my life, half of which just a stone throw from Lilliput Park.

I enjoy the local history of Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Coalpit Heath and Bristol.

I spent 18 years working at Rolls Royce as a precision grinder, helping to make components for Concorde and maintaining the Spitfire and Hurricane collection.  I also spent time working in the local Citizen’s Advice Bureau.  I am currently involved with the South Gloucestershire Mines Research Group.  My main hobby is the social impact and engineering side of our nation’s railways.

I am looking forward to the challenges of being a Councillor to the local area.”
